This year, I decided to tackle two key areas in our home to make our daily routine smoother and more efficient: the laundry room and the hall entry closet. Our laundry room doubles as a mudroom, and the space is TIGHT.

Our journey began with a free in-home consultation, and we were fortunate to have Mike, the owner of Inspired Closets Chicago, come to our home. Mike’s expertise and friendly demeanor put us at ease right away.
Then, Mike carefully measured the spaces and took the time to understand our daily routines, storage requirements, and aesthetic preferences. Additionally, he talked me through various options and ideas, ensuring that the solutions proposed would be perfectly tailored to our family’s lifestyle. In-Person Planning: Bringing Ideas to Life
Then, a few days later, I visited the showroom in Oak Brook and met with Mike to review his designs for the project.
This was an exciting step as we got to see both a variety of materials and finishes to choose from. The designers worked closely with us to create a plan that maximized storage and efficiency while also looking beautiful.
Also, one of the highlights of this visit was seeing 3D renderings of the spaces, which allowed us to understand exactly what the end result would look like. Mike put up these final renderings for the spaces on a large TV in the show room, so I could see what our final spaces could be! We discussed every detail, from both the layout of the locker storage system and the laundry room cabinets, to the exact configuration of the hall entry closet.
Mike’s expertise and creativity shone through, making it easy to visualize the final outcome.
I love Mike’s suggestions of small, but really impactful, details such as adding a hanging rod above the sink to hang laundry to dry. Genius! The Inspired Closets Chicago team is full of great of ideas like this that I would never think to include in the design!
Prepping the Space
Before the installation, we made some changes on our own to upgrade the spaces and make the most of our new storage systems.
The biggest changes were in the laundry room where we had new tile put in, and we also hired a contractor to remove the front wall on the closet in this space.
Smooth Installation: Turning Plans into Reality
Installation day arrived, and the process was impressively smooth. The installation team, led by Greg, was professional, punctual, and meticulous.
Greg worked efficiently. Before we knew it, our laundry room and hall entry closet were transformed into organized, functional spaces.
The attention to detail and quality craftsmanship were evident in every aspect of the installation. We needed a couple of tweaks, and the Inspired Closets Chicago team quickly scheduled a date to come out for theses finishing touches!

There’s a bench seat built in where kids can sit down to put on shoes, and I also added baskets here for each child’s daily water bottle and lunch bag.
